The Sport Vibrations® replacement fin box for US-box systems is your go-to solution for repairing damaged or worn-out SUP fin boxes. This complete repair kit contains everything you need for a secure and durable self-installation: a rugged US-box fin box, a clean white PVC patch, and high-performance adhesive.

Ideal for inflatable and rigid paddle boards with a US-box system. Also great for retrofitting a center or directional fin — especially for WindSUPs.

Technical (basic) knowledge to remove the old and attach (glue) this replacement fin case is helpful but not required.

Important: The adhesive must be applied to both surfaces, but in a very thin layer. Technicoll 8002 works on the principle of "cold welding"—meaning the adhesive slightly softens the TPU surface, allowing the materials to bond directly with each other when pressed together. If too much adhesive is applied, a thick layer forms that prevents the two TPU layers from welding together cleanly. A thin, even layer is therefore crucial for achieving maximum strength.

Please do not use solvents for cleaning. Solvents can damage the TPU coating or alter the surface in a way that impairs the effectiveness of the cold-welding bond. Simply cleaning the surface with clear water and a little mild soap, then allowing it to dry completely, is sufficient.

Step by step instructions for sticking on the fin box

• Remove the remnants of the old fin box extremely carefully with the utmost care so as not to damage the material underneath!
• Ideal processing temperature of the adhesive +15 ° C to +25 ° C
• Cleaning the places where the fin box should be attached.
• Always apply the fin box to a clean, uneven surface
• Place the fin box at the desired location and outline (mark) the location with a pencil.
• If there are several fin boxes, care should be taken to ensure that they are aligned together
• Apply a thin layer of PVC adhesive to the marked area and spread it carefully
• Also apply a thin layer of the adhesive to the underside (adhesive side) of the fin box
• Allow max. 1 minute (double-sided application) to ventilate
• Place the fin box on the marked spot.
• Hold down the fin box for a few minutes with maximum contact pressure
• Remove all glue residue
• Then the same procedure now with the fin box cover (patch)
• The air that may now form air bubbles in the patch should always be pushed out to the edge with a spoon.
• Mask the edges with adhesive tape so that they do not open when drying

After a drying time of 24 hours (if possible let it harden with a little pressure), the fin box is resilient and ready for use

Due to the variety of possible materials and differences in adhesion behavior, adhesion tests are necessary before practical use.

Surface Preparation

Bonding surfaces must be clean, particularly free of oil, grease, or release agents.

Processing

The adhesive is applied single-sided (for small areas) or double-sided in a very thin, even, and complete layer using a brush, spatula, or roller. Absorbent, rough surfaces usually require a slightly heavier application or a second application after the first one has dried.

Immediately after applying the adhesive, the substrates are joined with light pressure. Ensure that the bonded materials remain in contact. If necessary, press again until sufficient initial tack is achieved and secure against slipping.

An assessment of final strength and durability can only be made after several days!

Special Property

Minor damage, e.g., in swimming pool liners made of soft PVC, can also be repaired underwater. The appropriate PVC repair patch is coated with the adhesive and immediately pressed onto the damaged area underwater, rubbing until the necessary initial adhesion is achieved.

Air and water temperatures below +15 °C may result in reduced bonding performance!
